In traditional Lesson Study, one teacher teaches the lesson and the rest of the teachers conduct live observation. In the NUSPK, each teacher taught the lesson and the research team video taped the implementation of the lesson. One camera focused on the teacher, while other cameras stayed focused on student groups (audio recorders were also placed on students' desks). In the study group sessions, we viewed and discussed videos of the students working on the problems, so capturing students' thinking was critical.
